Speaking of moisturizers- a great way to give your skin care routine an extra boost is by adding a moisturizing and cleansing masque to your routine! Worried about the price? No worries- you can make an excellent homemade masque that will keep your skin looking radiant! This specific recipe is especially effective for combination dry and oily skin that is also sensitive:
Ingredients:
1/2 cup hot water
10 tablespoons quick oats
1/2 apple, cored – not peeled
2 tablespoons plain yogurt
1 egg white
2 tablespoons honey
Directions: dietician
Stir the hot water and oats until smooth. Let stand for about 5 minutes or until mixture is paste-like in consistency. Mix the remaining ingredients in a blender for 45 seconds. Add the oatmeal mixture and blend for another 20 seconds.
Smooth the masque onto your forehead, cheeks, nose and chin. Lie down and relax while waiting for the masque to dry. Facial masques can be left on from anywhere between 10 to 20 minutes depending on skin type. For best results, steam your face five minutes before applying the masque.
The oats soothe and purify while the apple gives your skin necessary antioxidants. The yogurt, while sounding weird at first, is great for dissolving dead skin cells with lactic acid. The egg white firms the skin and removes oil, and the honey is anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory.
So this seemingly yucky mixture, though containing essentially healthy, edible and yummy ingredients on their own, could actually do wonders for your skin. Try it yourself to see!
