Domestic abuse and controlling relationships have been a silent killer throughout teenage relationships and home life for years. It is not right or okay, but it seems like some sort of taboo to talk about. Most teen girls don’t talk about it or admit domestic abuse because they feel like it’s embarassing or people will not accept you. That is probably the biggest myth out there. Many people have fallen victim to domestic abuse and you are not the only one. I once had a boyfriend that I fought with, and at times he got violent. But as soon as I told my mom and friends, I felt like a ton had been lifted off my chest. It is not okay for a boyfriend or “friend-boy” to push you around. It does not show he cares or fix any kind of problem. If you are in a relationship that is abusive, violent or controlling, get out of it as soon as possible. I can promise you by experience, it will not get better and it does not fix things. All it does is make bigger problems for you. This topic came up because I was watching Chris Brown/Rihanna interviews.

Abusive relationships between celebrities is not as glamorous as the media makes it out to be. If anything, it should show you that you are not the only one going through this situation. What do you think about the Rihanna and Chris Brown situation?
