25,000: The number of deaths caused by hunger every day.

World hunger is an issue that requires everyone’s help. In collaboration with Skip1.org, Ashley Tisdale is encouraging the public to give up one thing a day and donate that money to the charity.

Skip1.org uses their donations to bring food and water to needy children and families around the world. The organization, a division of the Children’s Hunger Fund, asks us to take the money we would have spent on a latte, a pack of gum, a donut or even a new shirt and put it towards feeding a child. On Skip1.org’s website, the group discusses the large amounts of random things we buy and use once or twice, and then never again. Instead of spending our money on useless material things,we could take that money and make a difference in someone’s life!

As they put it on the website, “Whether it’s skipping $4 at a fast food restaurant or $50,000 on that new car, we encourage you to skip it. You’ll never miss it. But a child could live because of it.”

In November, Tisdale teamed up with Glamour and Sephora in order to raise money for Skip1.org. At the Sephora located on 5th Ave. in New York City, fans met Tisdale and listened to music from her album “Guilty Pleasure.” At the event, Glamour donated $10 of every purchase to Skip1.org. Over 300 Tisdale fans, both young and old, showed up to the event!

If you want to help out, but don’t know where to start, check out the website.

By becoming a “skipper,” the organization will keep track of the amount of money you donated, be it $2 or $500. The website also includes a long list of possible things to give up for the day.

According to Skip1.org, every 6 seconds a child dies of hunger. We can change this by joining the Skip1.org team, along with one of our favorite starlets, Ashley Tisdale. Although we can’t all donate hundreds of dollars, even the smallest amount helps. Next time you feel like getting a pedicure, break out your nail polish and do it yourself! Take the extra money and put it toward a good cause.
