We all know that bullying is a serious subject (or what about cyber bullying?). If you are in school or if you have children in school, you know that it is a major problem. Even if you do not have kids in school, you know what is going on by what is being broadcast on the news. But the problem is, what should we do if we are being bullied? That is the billion dollar question for many students in school these days. Jacquie Ream addresses this in a delightful fiction book called “Bully Dogs.”
“Bully Dogs” is about a sixth grader who goes to Saint Mary’s School by the name of Frances Reed. Fran not only gets chased by three dogs on her way to school, but she is bullied by three mean girls at school. Those three girls are Marcy, who is the ring leader of the group, Sue and Ursala. Not only do these girls bully her at school, but on the volleyball court. To make things worse, her mom does not seem to understand what she is going through. But can Fran stand up to Marcy or will she continue to let Marcy get to her? And what is she going to do about the three dogs that chase her to school every morning?
“Bully Dogs” is the first book in a series about Frances Reed. Even though this book is written for 9 to 12-year-olds, we believe that everyone would enjoy this book. When you read the book, it’s easy to relate to Frances; not just about the subject of being bullied, but her school and home life. There is a piece of Frances in everyone. Stay tuned for the following books in this series to come out! Don’t miss it!
On top of magnificent writing, the pictures that are in the book were wonderfully done. The artwork in the book is by Phyllis Emment. Get your copy today!
