Chit Chatting with Raven Goodwin

Recently Relate had the honor of interviewing Raven Goodwin. She will be in the new ABC drama “Huge,” which will premiere the 28th of June. Read more and learn about Raven and her up and coming show.

R: Tell us a little bit about yourself?

Raven: I am the biggest softy! It doesn’t take much for me to melt. One of my favorite movies is “The Notebook” I sob every time!!!! Yes I’m that girl!

 

R: At what age did you start to act? Have you always wanted to become an actress? What was your first role?

Raven: I was four years old. I started out with print work. So my first job was the cover of a parent value book. I can’t really remember it that well though!

 

R: Tell us about your new show “Huge”? What channel will it be on? Is there a premiere date yet?

Raven: HUGE is a amazing touching drama that will be on ABC family. June 28th is the premiere date. It’s amazing to be apart of such an amazing project. It’s truly bringing out the best in me!

 

R: What character do you play? Tell us about her? Are there any simulates between you and her?

Raven: I play the shy humble girl. BECCA HUFFSTATTER. And the difference between Becca and I is just that “SHY” that’s not me at all. So it’s amazing being outside of my comfort zone it’s a true challenge.

 

R: What other cast members are in “Huge?” How does the cast get a long?

Raven: There are amazing actors apart of huge the beautiful Nikki Blonsky who is amazing. Hayley Hasselhoff, Gina Torres, Andrew Caldwell, Ashley Holiday, Zoe Jarman etc.etc….We get along a little TOO well!!!! We have this strong connection already I seriously love them all. I respect their talented 100 percent awesome awesome cast.

 

R: What was the audition process like for the show? How did you find out that you got the part?

Raven: It was a LONG audition process. But it was Worth it! My manager called and said “WHERE ARE YOU? ARE YOU READY?! SHE GOT THE PARTTTTT!!” and i literally was frozen! (laughs)

 

R: We read that you are making guest appearances on “Good Luck Charlie.” What is it like working with Bridgit Mendler and Jason Dolley?

Raven: AMAZING working with Bunny aka Bridgit and Ja-saysay aka Jason (that’s what I call them) is amazing, so much fun!! I love to hear them play their guitars!!! I beg Bunny to sing to me all the time she’s amazing!!!

 

R: What singers and bands can be found on your ipod or mp3 player? What are your favorite songs by each of them?

Raven: You will find Ingrid Michaelson, Michael Jackson, Janelle Monae, COMMON! love him. etc etc. I like a lot of old school hip hop.

 

R: Who are some of your favorite actors and actresses?

Raven: I love Jonah Hill, Seth Rogan, Ellen Page, Ken Jeong, Gabrielle Union, LARENZ TATE! QUEEN LATIFAH

 

R: If you could work with anyone in the world who would it be and why?

Raven: It would be Queen Latifah she is soooo amazing so beautiful. She knows how to pick her roles also. She’s a dope MC, Covergirl, and actress I mean WHO CAN RESIST!!!

 

R: What has been you most “star struck” moment? Who was it, and tell us about it?

Raven: QUEEN LATIFAH!!! (laughs) at the KCA’S I think in 2007 I couldn’t meet her though BODY GUARDS.

 

R: What has been your favorite memory so far?

Raven: My favorite memories are being created right this second. But if i had to say it would be when I worked with Lil JJ and Chelsea Tavares. SO MUCH FUN!

 

R: How has been you biggest influence and why?

Raven: You know everyone that I work with i take a little bit of inspiration from. I’m always looking to be inspired and influence every second. So therefore I have a lot of influences. 1,000 mentors.

 

R: What is the best advice you have ever gotten and by who?

Raven: Director Allison Liddi-Brown told my cast and I to listen to one another. Listen to our selves. It took my skill and way of thinking to the next level.

R: What advice would you give teenage girls?

Raven: Be a TEENAGER there’s not a THIN-LINE between Teenager and ADULT there is a huge difference. Be responsible. It all will come so don’t rush enjoy being 15, 16, 17, etc these are years we’ll never get back. So be young ladies, and have fun!

 

R: What do you do in your spare time?

Raven: I write music. Chill with friends. You know the norm!

 

R: Do you have any hidden talents?

Raven: Yes I am the queen of TETRIS I love it. I need it! I live for Tetris!

 

R: I read that you were making a CD? How is that coming? Is rapping something you may want to work on in the future?

Raven: Yes I’ve been working independently on a little something, something. Yes I love it just as much as I love acting.

 

R: What are five things people may not know about you?

Raven: IM a CLUTS, I have an popsicle addiction! ummmm…..I’m a HUGE 90210 fan. I look in the mirror a lot! I love to take pictures. I would to do some print modeling!

 

R: What are five things you can not live without?

Raven: My blackberry, My mac book, my mommy, my sister, and my nephew!

 

R: What are some of your future goals?

Raven: Where ever I am what ever I’m doing. I want to be happy with it. NO MATTER WHAT.
