Have you ever wanted to be in a band? Are you a fan of Vanessa Hudgens and/or Alyson Michalka? If you are, then you may want to check out this DVD.
“Bandslam” came out in 2009. The movie was directed by Todd Graff who also wrote the screenplay along with Josh A. Cagan, who also wrote the story to “Bandslam.” This movie has an all star cast, which are Alyson (Aly) Michalka, Vanessa Hudgens, Lisa Kudrow, Gaelan Connelli and Scott Porter.
“Bandslam” is about Will Burton (Gaelan Connelli), a teenager who moves to New Jersey when his mom (Lisa Kudrow) gets a new job. At his new school things are different. He is not picked on. At his new school he meets Sa5m (the five is silent). They are partnered up together to do an assignment about learning about one another. He also meets the ex-cheerleader, Charlotte (Aly Michalka),who not only ropes him into helping out at a daycare with her, but being her bands manager as he helps her band get ready for Bandslam. Charlotte’s band will be playing against her ex-boyfriends band, Glory Dogs. Something happens that could break up the band. Will they get to play in the Bandslam, or are they going to be watching from out in the crowd?
“Bandslam” is a great movie. The actors and actresses could not have been any more perfect for the roles that there were cast in. Vanessa Hudgens plays a dark character at least in the beginning. It felt like she was trying to channel Christina Ricci, which was a great choice. It showed Vanessa had a larger acting range. On top of that, she got to show off her vocal range. The sentence “the girl has lungs” is an understatement towards the end of the movie she got to hit and hold a note that is surprising. She was not the only talented singer that graced the cast. Aly Michalka was also amazing not only as her character, Charlotte, but she also did a great job singing. Gaelan play the misfit outcast Will, who you quickly fall in love with.
The screenplay was well written, and the music in the movie was wonderful.
The movie has a wonderful twist at the end, but you will have to watch the movie to find out. The movie is currently on DVD
