We’re about halfway through the summer. I’m still counting down the days and am having troubles staying motivated. When that happens, I have a little book full of quotes that helps me find the right perspective and my attitude readjusted. Read on, girls, and you’ll be inspired to work a little harder and do a little extra with a smile. Even in the heat.
Procrastination
I am disciplined. To a point. Even I like to put things off until the last minute.
“We spend our lives dreaming of the future, not realizing that a little of it slips away every day” – Barbara Johnson
“Making up a string of excuses is usually harder than doing the work” – Marie T. Freeman
Distractions
There’s always that text I could answer instead or that facebook page I wanted to check out or song that won’t let me concentrate. . .
“Give me the person who says, ‘This one thing I do, and not these fifty things I dabble in’” – D. L Moody
Disappointment
I have felt like giving up. I have felt like it would be easier to walk out the door than it would be for me to persevere. Easier, yes. But would it be right? No.
“Every achievement worth remembering is stained with the blood of diligence and scarred by the wounds of disappointment” – Charles Swindoll
Resentment
The most difficult thing about work is not the work sometimes, but the co-workers. We hurt each other. Each of us does hurtful things. Forgiveness is as essential to a good employee as talent and work ethic.
“Grudges are like hand grenades; it is wise to release them before they destroy you” –Barbara Johnson
“The more you practice the art of forgiving, the quicker you’ll master the art of living” – Marie T. Freeman
Priorities
What’s important in your life? What do you want to accomplish today? Are some of the things you’ve put an importance on in your life worthy of being at the top of your list?
“Blessed are those who know what on earth they are here on earth to do and set themselves about the business of doing it” – Max Lucado
“You can’t get second things by putting them first; you can get second things only by putting first things first” – C. S. Lewis
