Interview with Kelli Berglund
Written by Jill Sheets
Recently, I got to interview Kelli Berglund who plays Bree on Disney XD show “Lab Rats.” Continue to read on about her and her show.
R: Tell us a little bit about yourself?
K: I just turned 16. Right now I actually star on the Disney XD show “Lab Rats.” I have been a dancer for about 11 years.
R: How did you get into acting industry?
K: When I was 10 years old my best friend actually was in the acting business and I thought it would be really cool to get into that. I was actually interested in the arts when I was younger because I was a dancer and singer too. And one time I did a school production and it was a really big production. I was the featured actor and the dancer in it and there was a talent agent there and she came up to my mom and asked if we had an agent. We said no but would love to do that, so that’s how it all got started.
R: Tell us about your new show “Lab Rats” and about your character Bree?
K: It is about me and my two bionic brothers and we lived in underground lab our entire life. We were created by a billionaire scientist and now he has a stepson because he gets married. The stepson is a normal kid and he takes us out into the real world because we’ve never been there before. And each one of us has a specialty, like I have super speed, one of my brothers has super intelligence and my other brother has super strength. We experienced the real world, like school and other kids. We all have to do it as a family, but we still have the hide the fact we are bionic.
R: What are some of the similarities between you and your character Bree and what are the major differences?
K: Major differences my character has to experience living with brothers her whole life and I actually never had a brother. I have a sister so that is something different between me and her. Something that is similar when she gets out into the real world she has her insecurities. She’s just trying to be a normal girl, just like I am. She’s trying be the best girl that she can be and I am I am trying to be the best girl that I can be and a normal girl as well.
R: What was audition process like?
K: It was a long audition process. I have audition for Disney numerous times over the years for about six years now, but it was really exciting. When I first got the script I absolutely fell in love with the character and I wanted to play her so badly. I wanted to audition so badly, so I went into audition and got called back numerous times. I had a screen test with all the producers and executive producers. It was really nerve-racking there were a lot of people in the room, but I tried my best and when I got the call that I got the part I was so overjoyed and so excited.
R: You mentioned that you are the answer what are some of your favorite songs to dance to?
K: I definitely like dancing to Adele a lot because my favorite style of dancing is contemporary and I danced to her several times. Her songs are very contemporary driven, so that to I like to dance to.
R: What has been your most are struck moment? Who was it and tell us about it?
K: It would probably have to be Selena Gomez. I did a commercial with her, a few years ago actually, and I was in the background in the commercial, but when I heard that Selena Gomez’s was in it I was beside myself. It was so awesome that I got to meet her.
R: If you can work with anyone in the world who would it be and why?
K: I would have to say… it is a tie between Sandra Bullock and Kristen Wiig. Both of them are my favorite actresses.
R: What is the best advice you’ve ever gotten and by who?
K: The best advice that I’ve been given was probably by my best friend. She told me that everything happens for a reason. That kind of applies to my acting, if you don’t get the opportunity right away there’s another opportunity waiting. There’s a reason that you didn’t get that part because it’s another when waiting for you, so I definitely channel that everyday.
R: It is not easy being a teenager what, advice would you give them in general?
K: I would say always believe in yourself. Where you have your insecurities have faith in yourself and is always good that you stand up for her you are and stand up for what you believe in.
R: What are five things people may not know that you?
K: A lot of people don’t know that I’ve been a dancer my whole life probably 11 years now. Let’s see another one is that I am actually a horror film fanatic. I love scary movies. This is kind of a weird one but I was born with two different color eyebrows and eyelashes so one side is blonde and the other side brunette. I think that is all I can think of right now (laughs).
R: Other than this one, what is the strangest question you’ve ever been asked?
K: Let me see. I have been asked pretty normal questions. The strangest one that been asked is.. I actually haven’t really been asked me strange ones. I did have somebody come up to me once and asked if they knew me from something and they kind just like stared at me then asked me and walked away. It was really weird. (laughs).
R: Are you on any social networking sites if so which ones what are their addresses? And you have an official website?
K: I do actually. I have a twitter in my twitter user name is just my name “Kelli Berglund” on there. I have the fan page that just recently put up on Facebook “Kelli Berglund” fan page. I’m in the progress of creating my website, which will be up pretty soon hopefully.
R: Is there anything I should like to add or say to your fans?
K: Just to then to the show and hope you guys like it.
R: Kelli, thank you for the interview. You have a great day.
