Chit Chatting with Actor Jake Short

Chit Chatting with Actor Jake Short

Written by:  Jill Sheets

Recently I had the honor of interview Jake Short from “A.N.T. Farm:”.  Continue to read on and learn about Jake and his show and about what he looks for in a girlfriend.

R:  Tell us a little bit about yourself and how you got into acting business?

J:  I got into the acting business when I was about 9 1/2 years old.  My brother actually wanted to do before I did and so I looked up at him a lot of the time and he was a huge role model to me, so I was like “this is really cool I want to try this out.” And so I started taking classes along with him, but he decided that he didn’t want to do it and I pursue my career, got some recommendations and here I am.

R:  Tell us about your show “A.N.T. Farm”: and about your character Fletcher Quimby.

J:  Well, “A.N.T. Farm” is about these three kids who are in high school and extremely talented in what they do and they are all 11-year-olds, which is kind of funny, but they are in high school because the principal wants to win all these awards, so basically we are winning all these awards, but at the same time we have ruffing with the big kids and funny storylines in such. My character Fletcher is an art prodigy and he is very smart he can sculpt and draw anything and I have a great time playing him. He’s kind of dorky and a little bit quirky, so I enjoy it.

R:  What are some of the similarities between you and your character? And what are the major differences?

J:  He is amazing at art and I am of course terrible.  I have almost no talent at art at all, but I think we have similarities in terms of that he is 11 and when I was 11 I was very very girl crazy and he’s very very girl crazy. We both are kind of dorky. We both are kind of ourselves around people, so which is good and kind of weird at the same time, but I enjoy playing them.

R:  What has been your favorite episode so far and why?

J:  My favorite episode so far was last season. It was a Christmas episode and I got pied in the face and it was very fun. I thoroughly enjoyed that. That was my favorite episode.

R:  What was it like seeing yourself on the cover of a magazine or insider magazine for the first time?

J:  It was really cool. I was really excited. I just saw little snippet of me and it was like  “Jake Short reads Bop magazine too” and I was like I do and it was really cool. It was really exciting and I told all my friends and my family and they were all really happy. It was a good day for me.

R:  Do you have a girlfriend and what do you look for in one?

J:  I do not have a girlfriend, but I look for someone who is smart and compassionate. I am a Christian as you may know. I really want a girl who has Jesus in her life and for her to know about him, to have good qualities, be trustful, nice and faithful.

R: What are five things people may not know about you?

J:  Well one I can touch my tongue to my nose and my lip. That is two. A lot of people don’t know that I don’t have a girlfriend because I keep asking me all the time. I really really really really like candy and bacon. Those are like my two favorite things. I am and all honors classes in school.

R:  what advice would you give someone who wanted to become an actor or actress?

J:  Get experience. Do school plays do school plays. Take acting classes whenever you can. Get referrals. If it is meant to be able it will happen.

R:  Other than this one, what is the strangest question you’ve ever been asked?

J:  Where is your ticklish spot? (laughs).  It was a little weird. I also have had someone ask “do you like pickles?”  I have had quite a bit of weird questions not only in interviews but on twitter and stuff.

R:  Speaking of social networking sites, which ones are you on and you have an official website?

J:  I’m on twitter, Facebook and tumblr. Right now regarding a website I do not have one right now but I am in the middle of developing one.

R:  Is there anything out should like to add or say to your fans?

J: Thank you so much for watching the show.  Thank you for supporting me and following me and liking my page.  Thank you for being awesome. And I will always be there for you guys. I love you guys a lot.

R: Jake, thank you for the interview.  Have a great day.
