You may recognize Tinsel Korey from the Twilight Saga: New Moon, Eclipse and (soon) Breaking Dawn, where she plays Emily. But, there is more to Tinsel and she met with us to talk about her music and inspirations.

R:  How did you get into the entertainment industry?

T: Well I was one of those kids that was always putting on skits or singing, doing something creative.  As a teenager I started off doing commercials, and from there I moved into film & TV.  I think doing the commercials 1st was a great way for me to understand camera angles and how lighting works.  As far as music, well its walked on the path with me, and is finally going to have its time in the spotlight.

R:  Tell us about your new album.

T:  I have all the songs ready to be recorded professionally.  I just need someone with lots of money to help make that a reality.

R:  Tell us about your new single “Letter.”

T:  It’s actually my first released song.  I’m really excited about it, and very proud.  I composed the lyrics and music. Stevie Salas who has worked with Mick Jagger, Justin Timberlake, Rod Stewart produced the song. And we got some really great musicians to play on it.  Marcos Curiel from POD, Mark Schulman who was PINK’s drummer on the last tour & Shea Chambers who’s sung with Michael Jackson.

R:  How did you come up with the idea for that song?

T:  My friend was going through a domestic violence situation.  When I found out I was shocked and saddened.  The song is really about knowing when to let go of a relationship that just isn’t working anymore.

R:  Where can people get your music?

T:  I know for sure it’s on iTunes & Amazon and other digital music media outlets.

R:  You are also in The Twilight Saga: New Moon, Eclipse and Breaking Dawn.  What is it like working with the Twilight cast?

T:  We’re like a family.  Well the wolf pack. What you see on screen is how we are off screen, it makes the working process, well not like work at all. (laughs)  I rarely see the vamps, but the ones I’ve met have been cool.   Kristen is just lovely as well.

R:  If you could work with anyone in the world who would it be and why?

T: Eminem for music.  I think he is a musical genius who says what’s on his mind, and doesn’t conform to what people say he should be.  For acting I’d love to work with Joseph Gordon-Levitt again.  I was in a movie called “The Lookout” with him.  But our characters didn’t interact with each other a lot.  And I remember watching him work during filming and thought he was just brilliant.

R:  What is the best advice you have ever gotten and by who?

T: My acting teacher in Vancouver Nancy Sivak said: Trust that who you are is enough.

R:  What advice would you give girls in general?

T: Understand that each one of them has a gift that is unique to them.  They might not know its there yet, or what it is, but they each have one.  That there is a reason that they are on this earth, and to not get discouraged by people who put them down or judge. To always “Believe in Dreams”.

R:  I read that you travel across North America teaching Native American youths acting and music.  Tell us about it?

T: Basically I go to different reservations that don’t have arts programs already in there communities and do little workshops.  For example, on the Quileute Nation (the nation that the Twilight wolfpack is a part of) I spent a couple days with their kids and taught acting workshops.  We had an hour session for each day, and did acting exercises with each class.  I worked with kids from KG to High school.  The younger kids we mainly played games, and then older ones we did scenes and even used TV scripts.  The program is not supposed to be about them wanting to pursue acting as a career.  Its more a way of utilizing art to help express themselves.

R:  Do you have any other charities that are close to your heart?  If so, tell us about them.

T:  Over the Christmas holiday I went to helped out at St. Mary’s Food Bank in Arizona.  It was really shocking to me to find out how many people go hungry in the US, it’s in the millions.  I made a little video about my experience and what I learned to help spread awareness.

R:  What are five things people do not know about you?

T:

1. I’ve been doing music longer then acting.  Acting just ended up being the thing taking off, because music is in my opinion, is a hard industry to break in to.

2. I like to drink pickle juice.  I just started doing it recently, but I love it. (laughs) Its probably gross to most, but I betcha they haven’t tried it .

3. I want to be a director someday

4. I make an awesome beef chili

5. I’m a complete dork, who loves Fantasy movies like Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings & plays video games.

R:  Other than this one, what is the strangest question you have ever been asked?

T: (laughs).  Would you rather have no knees or no elbows?

R:  Are you on any social networking sites?  If so, which ones and what are their address?   Do you have an official website?   If so, what is the address?

T: (laughs) I have a lot!

2010 MTV MovieAwards

Chritina Aguilera MTV Music Awards

It has been officially announced that Grammy Award winning pop singer and song writer, Christina Aguilera will be performing at the 2010 MTV Movie Awards. She will be singing her new single “Not Myself Tonight,” which is from her fourth full-length album Bionic. The album will hit the stores on June 8, 2010. This will be her first studio album since Back to Basics in 2006. According to http://en.wikipedia.org, Christina said that her new song is about “…letting go and expressing yourself!”

Actor and comedian, Aziz Ansari get the lucky job of hosting the live show on Sunday, June 6th at 9pm Eastern/ 8 PM Central time Zone. Aziz Ansari is probably best know for being on MTV’s sketch show “Human Giant” or as Tom Haverford on “Parks and Recreation.”

Some of the presenters for the 2010 MTV Movie Awards are Russell Brand, Zac Efron (who is nominated for an award), Vanessa Hudgens, Miranda Cosgrove, Jessica Biel, Tom Cruise, Steve Carell, Cameron Diaz, Sean “Diddy” Combs, Bradley Cooper, Jonah Hill and more.

Does this cute guy look familiar?

Yep- it’s him. It’s Taylor Lautner- who stars as the VERY attractive Jacob Black in the Twilight series! You might not have recognized him back then, but now that face certainly strikes a chord! Though he is known for his character in New Moon today as an older teen, Taylor was quite the actor years ago, as he plays Elliot Murtaugh in Twentieth Century Fox’s Cheaper By the Dozen 2. The Murtaugh’s are long-term rivals with the Baker family, and things get crazy one summer when the kids collide in a competition of massive proportions…all because of a long-term grudge between their fathers.

Still, Taylor’s character doesn’t let the competition change him. Though Elliot is talented and athletic, he is also sweet and romantic, genuinely wooing the Tomboy Baker daughter and taking her to the movies…let’s just say his popularity with the ladies isn’t dwindling any time soon!

So what’s the news? This film will be coming out in a special Blu-ray edition for the first time ever to ring in the New Year!

Let’s face it – the ladies of New Moon are far from average…and the same goes for their hair. But to achieve the vampire look, you don’t have to stretch your wallet or your personal style sense as far as expected. Following are the bold, beautiful and some subtle options when trying to score the coveted hair of the ever-feared vampire.

Bold Color:

When attempting to achieve a New Moon hairstyle, it’s important to first start with a jolt of naturally inspired color. That is, bolder hues of blondes, brunettes and reds. All-over color is key, and stay away from ashier shades. Also, steer clear of too many dyes (highlights, lowlights, heavy striping) intermingling throughout your locks; excessive color can sometimes detract from your facial features, especially your eyes – which we all know should be the focal point of any “vampiric” look.

Long Hair:

If you’re blessed with long, thick hair, adapt the New Moon Ladies’ hairstyles to fit your own. Victoria, Rosalie and even Bella (though she’s not a vampire…yet) all sport long strands graced with flowing banana curls. Banana curls can be achieved by randomly placing several large hot rollers throughout the hair; let set for a few minutes, remove and run fingers through hair to keep the curls intact (hairbrushes often deform curls and create static cling).

Short Hair:

If you usually sport shorter, sassier cuts, take your hairstyle inspiration from Alice Cullen, who is known for her sculpted, pixie-like locks. When it comes to achieving the vampire look with shorter hair, product is your best friend, so don’t be afraid to test sculpters, gels and pomades from your favorite brands. Angles, out-turned waves and even spikes can all be used when mimicking Alice’s edgy femininity.

Up-dos:

Jane may be merciless, but her hair is ultra chic. If you’re heading to an event and want to emit the New Moon vibe, throw your hair into an up-do inspired by this pain-inducing member of the Volturi guard. Clean, swept back strands are key, along with a softly sculpted bun to finish off the look. Keep simplicity in mind, but also elegance. The bun can be your own, but the most important rule of thumb: no loose strands.

Complete the look with vampire makeup.

Porcelain Skin

If you want to look like one of the Volturi, THINK LAYERS. Then, start with the it stick concealer from Benefit ($20.) Follow with a creamy foundation like Stilla Illuminating Liquid in 10 Watt ($38) for a sheer glow. Finish with Hydrating Mineral Veil by Bare Escentuals ($19) to absorb oil and soften complexion.

Blood Red Lips

Benetint is a chic two in one product from Benefit. The bottle looks like nail polish, but it’s actually lip and cheek tint. The rose colored stain is said to be ‘kiss-proof,’ according to the Benefit website. They also call it ‘innocent yet provocative.’ If that doesn’t sound like The Twilight Saga, I don’t know what else does. Apply three dots to the apples of cheeks and blend quickly with fingers ($28).

Dark Nails

Many of the vampires in New Moon have dark nails. I’ve been using OPI Nail Lacquer in Siberian Nights, which is deep purple with a minor shine. They also make a matte color, Lincoln Park After Dark which looks closer to black ($9).

Now you’re ready to look just like one of the neck-biters for the premier…..just get some fake teeth and you’ll be a spitting image! (Unless, of course, you don’t want to go that far…..)

I’m not usually  the movie premier kind of girl, but I had to make an exception for “New Moon” last night. Sitting in a theatre packed with “Twilight Saga” fans for 2 hours  before the movie began at midnight was almost torturous, and I hoped it would be worth it. Like most Twilight fans, I’m in love with the books, but the first movie was somewhat of a disappointment for me. It strayed from the book too much, leaving out the detailed process of how Bella and Edward actually fell in love. I also couldn’t get past Kristen Stewart’s akward acting. I’d  hoped that the new “New Moon” director Chris Weitz could nail this second installment better then the first director, and man did he ever!

“You know, my aim from the beginning was to kind of do a faithful adaptation of the book and something that the fans of the books would appreciate,” said Weitz. “And it feels very good.”

Well Chris, you nailed it – big time! Whatever you hoped for the second movie, it is that and so much more!  I left the theatre with no disappointments whatsoever and wondering when I could find the time to go see it again! The loud, excited chatter from the audience leaving the theatre was right along with me. “It was amazing….that was so much better than the first…..Jacob is so hot!”.  Kristen Stewart, Rob Pattinson and Taylor Lautner  lived up to their characters as well as Stephenie Meyer wrote them. I give “New Moon” 10 thumbs up!
