Chit Chatting with Tyler Alvarez

Tyler Alvarez 2 Recently, I had the honor of interviewing actor Tyler Alvarez .  Continue to read on and learn about his new show, what is it like working with the cast and how he gets ready of a role.

R:  Tell us a little bit about yourself and how you got into the acting business?

T:  Well, while growing up I always loved watching movies and I have had a passion for entertaining people all my life. My mom enrolled me in my first acting class, and the rest is history.

R:  Tell us about your new show “Every Witch Way,” and about your character Diego Rueda.

T:  Every Witch Way is a great new show on Nickelodeon all about magic, love, and friendship. Luckily I had the opportunity to play Diego Rueda, a student at Iridium High who also happens to be the only boy at Iridium High that has super powers. He can control all of the elements like fire, wind, and ice! He is a sarcastic, funny, and likeable character who is not a big fan of school… kind of like me. Anyways it’s a really cool show and I think you should check it out!

R:  What was the audition process like and how did you find out you got the role?

T: The audition process consisted of 2 auditions at the Nickelodeon headquarters in New York City and 2 days to test for the project in LA. I was a little nervous considering that this was my first test but I got over it and did my best. I later found out that I booked the job on 12/21/12, Which was the day the world was suppose to end according to the Mayan calendar.. great. I was saying to myself, YES! Finally my dreams are coming true, I just can believe that the world is ending on the same day!

R:  What has been your favorite episode so far?

T:   My favorite episode has to be “Beach Ball” because I love when my character Diego shatters the volleyball with his powers by accident in front of a lot of people.

Tyler AlvarezR:  What is a typical day like for you when you are shooting a scene?

T:  For me a typical day on set consist of 3 hours of school, which can vary according to schedule, hair and makeup, usually practice rehearsals a couple times, and then we shoot it. I found that the way we were filming was very fast and similar to that of a soap opera.

R:  What is it like working with your cast?

T: Working with my cast was an amazing experience and I can honestly say that there was never a dull moment. We all got along great and always had fun together, and I think that really shows in our work. I am happy to say that off set we were always together goofing around, and acting like normal kids.

R:  How do you get ready for a role?

T:  The way that I prepare for a role is by figuring out who the character is by learning everything I can about him so that when I am handed a script I know how the character would act under different circumstances.

R:  Tyler, thank you for the interview.  Have a great day.
