Red-Carpet Hairstyle Tips

The perfect night not only begins with the perfect dress, but the perfect hairstyle. Cliché updos and Shirley Temple curls are NOT what you want to remember when flipping through your photo albums years later. Make your hair picture perfect with red-carpet hairstyle tips from celebrity hairstylist Ashley Hanna from NYC’s mizu salon. If you love these hair styles like we do, becoming a cosmetologist may be a great fit for you.

Selena Gomez hair, updo

Selena Gomez
This hairstyle is amazing for girls with that natural texture, curls or waves! Begin with applying your favorite dry texturing spray to give the hair a little hold and grip! Pull the hair up with bobby pins very loosely and make sure to not clean or polish!

You can either pull into a messy bun or roll into a French twist, whatever style you desire! After securing with pins (make sure the bobby pins used match your hair color), finish by pulling out some little hairs around the hair line to give that extra text look as Selena Gomez has! Finish off with a little more dry texturing spray or superfine hairspray.

Beyonce hair, updo

Beyonce
To achieve this look start by blowing out your hair with Twisted Sista Different Strokes Serum and Blow Drying Crème at your roots. After the blow-dry, take your large barrel curling iron and take medium to small sections and begin wrapping the hair around the barrel of iron to give that beautiful soft wave. Spray superfine hairspray on each section to lock in the curls!

After curling, pick a desire part and put hair off to the side using an elastic band. Add really cute broach to give a beautiful look to the style! Then take a flat brush and being smoothing hair and finish with a light mist of hairspray and anti-humidity spray to keep fly always down and control frizz to this polished look.

Kim Kardashian hair

Kourtney Kardashian
This is an easy glamour look to achieve on your own. Start by pick up a part that best suits your look for the night! Use Twisted Sista Different Strokes Serum and smooth over desired part about mid-way down the hair. Using your flat brush and blow dryer, smooth hair until desired look is achieved.

Then, using a ½ in. to 1 in. curling iron, begin curling hair, rotating the direction of each curl you curl. Spray your choice of dry texturing spray through midshaft to ends before curling each section. After all your hair is curled, use a wide tooth comb and lightly brush through curls while misting an anti-humidity spray to control frizz.

If you don’t have a wide tooth comb, use your fingers to comb through lightly. Finish your look with a light hairspray.

If you are looking for a great family friendly movie this summer, you may want to think about the movie “Ramona and Beezus.”

When Ramona and Beezus’s dad gets laid off at work, their mom goes and gets a job. With the fear of losing their house, Ramona sets out to find ways to make money so she can help her family out—no matter how her plans work out.

As Ramona, Joey King stole the movie. She was adorable and funny, and she will make you fall in love with Ramona again. Joey King, who is already a talent actress, will soon find her way to becoming a successful actress that you will want to keep your eyes on. She is the perfect Ramona! As for her sister Beezus, Selena Gomez is a perfect fit. They both seemed to bond to make their sister relationship in the movie work. Even thought there were a few tear jerking moments, this feel good movie will leave you smiling as you walk out of the theater doors.

Not only was the acting great in this movie, but the film was wonderfully written. It will keep you guessing about what will happen to Ramona’s family up until the end.

If you are looking for a cute movie, you can not go wrong with “Ramona and Beezus.” This is a must see family friendly movie, that will make you want to know, when will there be a sequel.

But… Just a heads up, before you leave, you may want to stay through at least some of the credits or all of them. Later on during the credits there are a few more dancing scenes, and you will be able to hear Selena Gomez’ song for the movie “Live Like There is No Tomorrow.”

There are many shows that have ended, or one of their cast members leave, ones that we have felt sad about. But this bit of news kind of took us by surprise. According to http://www.mtv.com, Selena Gomez is leaving “Wizards of Waverly Place,” before she does, she is going to do another “Wizard” movie.

In a recent interview with MTV, she told them, “Unfortunately, I’m doing my last season of my show, which I’m really heartbroken about. That’s gonna be a terrible time for me. I’m gonna do a movie for my show, which I’ll be excited to end it with, and then a tour.”

At this moment, there is no expected release date for this movie, but that is not the only movie that she has been working on. Selena has finished the movie “Monte Carlo,” were she plays Grace, and she stars along side “Gossip Girls’” actress Leighton Meester. The movie is set to be released on the 11th of February 2011, according to www.imdb.com.

Not only do we have to look forward to a new “Wizards” movie, the “Monte Carlo” and a tour, but later on this year she will be releasing a new album.

“The title so far of my album, I mean, I’m hoping it will stick is, A Year Without Rain.” It’s basically one of my favorite songs on the record. It’s kind of got a more feel-good dance beat and feel. I love it. It’s different, kind of shows my growth of my music. I think if anything the lyrics are powerful, in a way.”

So even though Selena is leaving “Wizards,” there are still a lot more things that we can look forward to from this talented actress and singer.

What do you think about Selena leaving “Wizards.” What is the one project of Selena’s that you are looking forward too?

Written by: Jill Sheets

Many of you have seen Miley Cyrus’ clothing line at Wal-mart. Soon she will not be the only Disney singer and actress that will have new clothing lines.

Demi Lovato Skirt

Demi Lovato bag

Demi Lovato Dress

The first one is inspired by the clothes that Demi Lovato wears on her show “Sonny with a Chance.” The “D Signed” fashion line will be hitting Target stores on August 1, 2010. This clothing line is geared towards girls 8 to 12 year olds. The fashion line will include t-shires, shorts, skirts, jewelry, bags, jackets, pants, dresses and head bands. The next collection will be out this winter. So if you are a fan of the show, 8 to 12 years old and would like to dress like Sonny this would be great line to look into. Demi also has a great fashion sense. Maybe one of these days she will come out a line of her own clothing.

Selena Gomez Shirt

Picture sourse: www.kmart.com

Demi is not the only singer or actress with great fashion sense. The other Disney actress that has her own line coming out is “Wizards of Waverly Place,” Selena Gomez. Her line of clothing is “Dream Out Loud,” and you will be able to find it in K-mart or online at http://www.kmart.com. The line of clothing is suppose to be out by the end of July. At this moment, they have a few of the clothing items up at the K-Mart website. “Dream Out Loud” will also have a lot of cool clothing items and other things to pick from. She will have t-shirts, skirts, sweaters, handbags, accessories, hats, sportswear and footwear.

Who would you like to see come out with a clothing line? Do you plan on checking out “D Signed” or “Dream Out Loud” clothing items?

Recently we got the honor of interviewing the adorable Joey King. Joey is in the new movie “Ramona and Beezus” with “Wizards of Waverly Place” actress Selena Gomez. Continue reading to find out more about this talented new actress and about her new movie. Enjoy.

R: Tell us a little bit about yourself?

J: Well, I like to use my imagination. I like to volunteer. I’m interested in lots of things…this week I decided to learn about bees and how they make honey.

R: At what age did you start to act? How did you get your start in acting?

J: Four years old when I started to acting. I started acting because my older sisters had been acting.

R: Are you the only actress in the family?

J: Nope, I have two older sisters who like to act too.

R: Tell us about your film “Ramona and Beezus.” For those who have never read the book could you tell us a little bit about Ramona?

J: “Ramona and Beezus” is about a girl who is trying to help her family. Things don’t always go how she plans and it usually is funny. Ramona the character is mischievous but has a really good heart.

R: Are there any similarities between you and Ramona?

J: Yes, we both have sisters. We both are adventurous. I like to go to survival outdoor school with my uncle and Ramona pretends she is in the Grand Canyon.

R: Did you read any of the Ramona Quimby books before you started to film the movie?

J: Yes. I had just finished a book report on “Ramona Age 8” when I found out I got the part. I took a picture with the report and sent it to Beverly Cleary. I was so excited.

R: What was the audition process like for “Ramona and Beezus?” How did you find out that you got the part?

J: The first time I auditioned I was too young. The movie was on hold for about 6 months and they asked me to come back cause I was 9 now. When you turn 9 you can work more hours on set — I was glad they remembered when I turned 9!

R: What was it like working with Selena Gomez? Did she give you any advice?

J: Selena is so sweet. I loved spending time with her.

R: What did you do when you had down time on the set of “Ramona and Beezus?”

J: We had to do school on down time, but I liked to sing with people and make up handshakes in between scenes.

R: How do you prepare yourself for a role?

J: For a sad role, I try to imagine what it would be like to be that person.

R: Could you tell us anything about “Battle: Los Angeles” and about your character Kirsten?

J: Battle: LA was a fun experience. I got to go in tankers and helicopters and be around explosions and the best part was repelling off a building and falling!

R: You are currently filming a movie with Emma Stone. Can you tell us a little bit about the movie and about your character Molly?

J: Molly is fun and quirky. She sort of is in her own world and believes she and the TV are one.

R: How do you handle being on set and school work?

J: Well, you gotta do school. Sometimes it’s harder for a kid if they have a lead role because they have to read lines and do three hours of school and work — grown ups don’t have that 3 hours of school!

R: What has been your most “star struck” moment? With who was it with and can you tell us about it?

J: I really love Sandra Oh and I even wrote her a letter asking her to please be Mrs. Meecham, (Ramona’s teacher).

R: You have also preformed in a live “improv” theater. Tell us about that? What was the best thing about performing “improv?”

J: Improv is so much fun! I love love love it! It’s hard to explain — I love to be in front of a live audience and just let loose!

R: You have done a few character voices in some animated films. Tell us a little bit about that? Is it harder or easier than acting on set? What was it like to see and hear your voice come out of an animated character?

J: Doing voices is pretty cool. It is awesome to hear to your voice come out of other characters.

R: What has been your favorite memory so far?

J: My favorite “Ramona and Beezus” memory was getting to go to Canada. I met so many nice people and it’s really pretty! My favorite “Battle: LA” memory was getting to repel down a building!

Joey King

R: What are some of your future goals?

J: I hope I get to keep acting because I love it.

R: Who has been your biggest influence?

J: My grandma. She is the best person in the entire world.

R: If you could work with anyone in the world, who would you like to work with?

J: I’d really like to work with Queen Latifa and Drew Barrymore.

R: If you could make a quest appearance on any Disney Channel show, which one would it be and why?

J: I would totally love to do a voice on “Phineaus and Ferb.”

R: Do you have any hidden talents?

J: I can do a cool eyebrow trick, burp on command, and I have some pretty crazy dance moves!

R: We read that you like to dance. What is your favorite kind of dance? How long have you been dancing?

J: I always have fun with dancing. No favorite kind, just fun and funky!

R: We also read that you like to sing. Is that something that you would like to do in the future?

J: I feel about singing like I feel about improv. It’s hard to explain but I feel like I get to let loose when I sing. I just recorded a rap song with Josh and Johnny Golden.

R: What singers and bands do you listen to? Do you have a favorite song by each of them?

J: Black Eyed Peas- Boom Boom Pow, Iʼve Got a Feelinʼ

Lady Gaga- Telephone, Poker Face

Rascal Flatts- Life is a Highway

R: Do you have any charities that are close to your heart? If so, tell us about them.

J: I like to help my grandma, who volunteers for Meals On Wheels, when I’m not working. And I like FirstBook.org — it helps underprivileged kids get books and also helps them with their reading. I made a song called “Ramona Blue.” It’s available on Itunes and the profits go to FirstBook.org!

R: What is the best advice you have ever gotten and by who?

J: My mom always has great advice. She always says to enjoy life but it’s most important to be good to others.

R: What advice would you give girls these days?

J: Be yourself. Try to join groups or clubs that you can make friends with. Friends that like the same thing as you do!

R: Are you on any social networking sites? If so, which ones and what are their addresses?

J: Facebook- www.facebook.com/OfficialJoeyKing

Twitter- www.twitter.com/joeylittleking

YouTube- www.youtube.com/joeykingactress

MySpace- www.myspace.com/joeylittlestking

R: What is the strangest question you have ever been asked?

J: Can you sign my turban?

R: Is there anything else you would like to add or say to your fans?

J: I feel very lucky to be able to play Ramona. Ramona and Beezus is a really great family movie and I hope you all like it!

Hollywood’s most famous faces certainly stepped up after the earthquake in Haiti, donating money, organizing telethons and wearing ribbons to raise awareness. But it hasn’t stopped there. Celebrities are continuing the Help Haiti Effort and there is no end in sight.

The Hope for Haiti telethon raised almost 57 million dollars last week. The television special featured many young stars, such as Taylor Swift, Rob Pattinson, Selena Gomez and Ashley Tisdale.

At the Grammy Awards Sunday night, Wyclef Jean, a native of Haiti, made a stirring speech encouraging viewers to not forget about the Haitians, but enthusiastically proclaiming that they will overcome this tragedy and carry on with strength. Mary J. Blige and Andrea Bochelli performed a stunning rendition of “Bridge over Troubled Water,” which is available on ITunes. All the proceeds are being donated to the American Red Cross Haiti Relief and Development Fund.

“What Happens in Rome” star Josh Duhamel raised money for the American Red Cross by pulling together a two-mile “Youth Run 4 Haiti” January 23. He was joined by Gregg Sulkin, known recently for his werewolf character on “Wizards of Waverly Place,” Matt Kemp, from the LA Dodgers, and Matt Grant, from “The Bachelor: London Calling.”

But perhaps one of the most anticipated fundraisers is yet to come. A “We Are the World” remake is in talks, possibly featuring musicians such as Justin Timberlake, Usher, Alicia Keys and Fergie. The original “We are the World” came out in 1985 to raise money and awareness for the famine in Africa. Quincy Jones and Lionel Richie, who were both involved in the original, are planning this amazing remake. “”We’ll have three times as many people as we did the first time,” said Quincy Jones, a music icon.

The effort to raise money and help for Haiti isn’t close to being over. While there are still people in need, we will continue working for relief. Be sure to download the amazing rendition of “Bridge over Troubled Water” on ITunes. Look out for the “We are the World” remake, hopefully coming out soon. If you are looking for more ways to help Haiti, check out the American Red Cross website.

But, we were finally able to select our top ten.

Relate’s chosen albums were not EPs, soundtracks or just songs off itunes. That would be a whole new list. But they are full albums…as a whole, we feel each one deserves an “honorable mention” from Relate for its lyrics, catchy beats and ability to relate to all of YOU! So here they are…top of last year!

10. The number ten spot goes to American Idol winner Jordin Sparks, for her album “Battlefield”. Her album has catchy tunes like “Battlefield,” “S.O.S (Let the Music Play) and “Faith.”

9. This spot was hard to assign. But the more we thought about it, the more we remembered our favorite songs from this album. The album is “Lines, Vines and Trying Times” by the Jonas Brothers.

8. This next album is hot and so is the singer. It is from the singer of “Fireflies” Owl City (Adam Young). We are sure that you will be hearing more from him! Is that video for the hit single intriguing or what!? Very odd, but intriguing!

7. The next album is from a lady who became famous on Youtube; as a matter of fact, we first saw her on Youtube. Her name is Marie Digby, and her album is “Breathing Underwater.” She has a wonderful voice. Look for more coverage of her next week!

6. Avalon has taken the sixth spot with their new album “Reborn.” They have a new member, but they are still a wonderful Christian group and one of our favorite inspirational bands.

5. The number five spot goes to a 16-year-old singer, Tiffany Giardina. Her pop album is called “No Average Angel.” She is another singer to keep an eye on this year.

4. The next one on our list is another American Idolwinner. It is Kelly Clarkson with “All I Ever Wanted.” She has proven she is one singer who has staying power. As season after season of AI goes by, we still haven’t forgotten her. She’s still rockin’ that voice!

3. We are getting closer to our favorite album of 2009. We kind of cheated on this album (but not really). It did come out in 2009, but not here in the U.S. So you have to buy it as an import from England. But, it still ranks up there on our favorites. It is English singer Pixie Lott, with her first album “Turn it Up.” Why not…try something new!

2. A Wizard of Waverly Place actress and her band rank at number two. It is Selena Gomez on the Scene with “Kiss & Tell.”

1. Finally we are at number one. This number one album rocks. Right now, our favorite song is “Remember December.” The song is from Demi Lovato’s album “Here We Go Again.”

We can’t wait to see what will come out in 2010!
