Kristen Stewart Turns Darkness Into Light as Snow White

You know the story about the exiled princess and the seven dwarves, but you’ve never seen K-Stew quite like this! When Kristen Stewart set out to put her own spin on Snow White, she made it clear she wasn’t about to be anyone’s princess. We talked to her about the diff between playing a fairytale icon in Snow White and the Huntsman and Bella Swan in The Twilight Saga.

What’s it like playing the modern-day classic character Bella has become as compared to the timeless traditional tale of Snow White?

Kristen Stewart: I guess the only actual comparison that sticks out in my mind is that they really are, in different ways, matriarchs — very strong, strong matriarchs. And them both being icons, it’s funny because Snow White was really never part of my childhood; I didn’t grow up on fairytales. I know everyone says, “It’s so cool because we’ve all grown up with this story.” Well, no, not really. I didn’t. I also didn’t grow up with Twilight.

Do you go out of your way to find roles that are different from Bella?

Kristen Stewart: The movies I’ve done between the Twilight films, I’ve just been really lucky that they’ve been very different — not because I’ve meant them to be, but literally because the things I’ve been drawn to have been different from the Twilight thing.

Can you spill any juice about your next project?

Kristen Stewart: This is the first time in a long time I haven’t known what I was going to be doing next, and I don’t want to rush it because I want to have time off to find out what I’m interested in. Not to say that I’ve just been going, going, going all the time and I don’t know myself — not at all. It’s just that I want a little bit of time to figure out what I really, really, really want to do.

Are you able to process the impact you have on your female fans?

Kristen Stewart: I love that. I hate when people ask, “What advice do you want to give your fans?” It’s just weird because that question always presents, “So, why are you better?” And I’m literally the same as my fans, which is why it’s so cool. I thank them too. The same reason they like me, I’m sure I’d like them. It’s common ground, and it’s because I’m placed on this pedestal, it looks like, “Wow, it’s so incredible that you can be that way,” but not really. It’s so weird. Trust me, come on up; you’ll see there’s really no difference.

What’s on your iPod right now?

Kristen Stewart: Adele’s album 21. Honestly, I’ve choreographed whole marches with my Snow White army behind me to that. It’s really good for the story — like, oddly good for it … too good for it. Hits the nail right on the head.

Interview With Author Lisa Grace

Interview With Author Lisa Grace

by Crystal Kelly

Lisa GraceRelate: Lisa I am so thrilled to have you here talking about The Angel Series. What is your inspiration behind the series?

Lisa: Thank you Crystal Kelly for having me here today. When the vampire series that are out there started hitting it big, I, as a Christian, was upset that they were using make-believe monsters to represent evil and putting all the supernatural world in the realm of myth. I believe this is another tool the devil uses to weaken peoples’ faith.

I was on my knees praying, why isn’t someone writing books about the real supernatural world and make it as exciting as they fake ones? That still small voice asked, “If not you, then who?” And that’s why I started writing young adult books that I would’ve enjoyed reading at that age.

R: Angel in the Shadows is the first book in a series. Is there a reason you chose a female as the main character?

L: Yes. I wrote book one in the first person. I never physically describe Megan (except to say she has hair long enough to tie back) because I want every young teen to imagine they could be her. I clearly remember the emotions I felt in my high school years. Also, I worked with teens at a dance studio while I was writing the book. It never even dawned on me to write from a male point of view.

R: What influenced you to pick the names of the angels and demons in the book?

L: I named the main evil angel, the one you see on the cover of the books, Judas, because he was the great betrayer. He lies. He also goes by three names in the book, because as personifying temptation, he is the rock star of the school, and he can appear to be whatever you want him to be. The teachers see him as the perfect student. The druggies as the best friend/supplier. The Goths as a powerful evil source. He goes by Damon, Jude or Judas, what ever fits his needs at the time. Remember, everything Judas says in my books is only half-true.

For Johnny, I was influenced by the disciple John, who loved Jesus the most. Later, in Book two, you find out Johnny’s angel name.

I use the Hebrew language and meanings to influence quiet a few of the tidbits I put in the books. I’d like my books to be used as tools to get teens reading and exploring the truths in the Holy Scripture.

R: The Angel Series has been called an alternative to the Twilight Series. What are your thoughts on that?

L: I was very happy when AOL named the angel series the Christian alternative to Twilight back in 2010. That’s exactly the market I’m trying to appeal to. Rather than waiting for a vampire boyfriend to rescue you, and deciding only to live if he saves you, is a terrible message to send to young adults.

In my books Megan knows right and wrong, and every choice she makes has consequences. She loves God, and even though she has a sin nature, her goal is to please God. When she feels God is wanting to do something against her wishes, she doesn’t always choose his way. Like all of us she sometimes rationalizes why her way is okay. Unfortunately, her choices have consequences, just like in real life.

R: You write with such clarity on matters of spiritual warfare. Have you experienced visions of angels and demons? Do you know anyone who has?

L: I have my books theologically approved by my spiritual leaders. I know I’ve been given the gift to write these books so some teens will “see” and learn to recognize how the devil can lead us into temptation. If he tried to tempt Christ, his fallen angels will try to destroy us through our weaknesses. No, I don’t see angels or demons, but I know they’re there. Just like I can’t see electricity, but when I flip the switch, I know it’s there and the lights will come on.

I give talks on modern day angel appearances and have had many trust worthy people tell me of their experiences. On the other side, if people don’t know their Bible, the devil can appear as an angel of light and give people false doctrine. This is why it is so important that everyone learn what the Holy Scriptures say.

R: I love how you incorporated the message of Christ and the plan of salvation into the series. What are you hoping to accomplish through this series?

L: I want teens to realize there is a supernatural battle on for their souls. They are either saved or unsaved and there is only one way to get saved. I present this message in a fictional story so it’s not threatening to those who are opposed Christianity.

In post-modernism, which a lot of households practice today, they teach their kids that all religions are myth. These kids will never go to a church, never be read a Bible story, and never be exposed to the Good News. However, a lot of those same parents will allow their kids to read books about the supernatural, like the Twilight Series. Many of these kids have a thirst for the supernatural, because we know deep in their hearts, they know there is a God and they’re searching for Him.

The Lord promises that His word will not return void. All I can do is write the books, make them available, and hope enough saved people care enough to get them out there to the general public.

R: I have read both Angel in the Shadows, Book 1, and Angel in the Storm, Book 2 both of which I loved. When should we expect Angel in the Ice, Book 3?

L: Any day now. If your readers sign up as an angel friend on my website http://www.lisagracebooks.com they will get a notice as soon as the book is available to order through Amazon. It’s in final edits. I lost two f my most trusted editors this year, so it’s slower going. I don’t want the editing to distract from the story.

R: Now on to some exciting news. Your series has been optioned to be made into a film. Would you tell us how this came about and would you offer some advice on how others can go this route?

L: It was a matter if timing. Angel in the Shadows, Book 1 hit #1 on the Amazon Teen Horror Bestseller list back in mid August 2011. I was eventually bumped from the number one spot by a book that was being made into a film, The Woman In Black.

Movie trailers advertising the film were shown in the side bar of the list and since the film was starring Daniel Radcliffe (AKA Harry Potter) my books were noticed by a couple of movie producers.

In the end I signed with Motion Picture Pro Studios. It is being fast-tracked into preproduction and their will be a press release announcing the deal soon.

My best advice is write a book you love, get it edited. Pick out a great cover and blurb. If your book gets on a bestseller list, you do have a chance of a movie producer wanting your book for a project. No matter what keep writing. It takes most novelists at least five to seven books before they hit their stride. I’ve written five books and contributed to two more, so I’m still getting started.

R: Where can readers find your books?

L: My series is currently available on Amazon, but I’m looking to sign a paperback deal so they are available everywhere.

Angel in the Shadows, Book 1
Angel in the Storm, Book 2 (The Angel Series)

Angel in the Ice, Book 3 available soon

R: Where can we find the latest film and book updates?

L: Your readers can sign up to be on my angel friend list at http://www.lisagracebooks.com where they can find the latest book and movie news. Thanks for having me on, Crystal Kelly, God bless.

Twilight Fans. Finally there is news on who is going to play Bella’s and Edwards
daughter, and the author of the popular series, Stephenie Meyer got to break the news to
everyone.

Stephenie Meyer wrote on the “Twilight” Facebook page, “Very excited about our new
Renesmee, Mackenzie Foy. She’s an amazing young actress and I’m excited to work with
her. I hope everyone had an enjoyable summer!”

According to a MTV interview with Kristen Stewart, she had no idea about the actress
until the director called and told her, “[He] was like, ‘Wait until you see this kid. If
you and Rob had a kid, this would be it,'” Kristen told MTV News. “I was like, ‘That’s
so weird.’ She just looks like—she sort of looks like Bella. Which is absolutely right.
Although the funny thing is she has green eyes, and we both have to wear brown contacts
together.”

Makes us wonder if Mackenzie will have to wear brown contacts.

Also as of the date of the interview, Kristen had not yet got to meet her on screen
daughter, “”No, I haven’t met her yet. That sounds so weird! ‘I haven’t met my daughter
yet.’ Wow.”

They only thing is, like “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows,” “Breaking Dawn” will
be spilt into two parts. So more than likely, you will not be able to see Mackenzie as
Renesmee until the last installment.

Mackenzie has was also been in commercials for Comcast, Pantene, Blackberry, TGI
Fridays, Childrens Hospital, Barbie, Tea Time with Belle Doll, Kohls and Burger King.
She has also played Michelle in an episode of the “Hawaii Five-0” and as Kate Erskine
in an episode of “Flashforward.”

The first part of “Breaking dawn” is suppose to be released on November 18, 2011 and
the send half is suppose to be released on the 16th of November, 2012

We are looking forward to seeing “Breaking Dawn.” What are your thoughts on the pick
for Renesmee?

Twilight Eclipse

The third installment of “Twilight” is now out in theaters. “Eclipse” continues with the characters that you have grown to love and more that will soon enter your hearts. There is just one change to the line-up of actresses that you are use to seeing in the “Twilight” movies. There is a new Victoria, Bryce Dallas Howard.

In this new “Twilight” movie, Victoria is determined to kill Bella and who ever gets in her way. It is only fair, they did kill her mate. By making a new vampire out of Riley Biers, she begins to build her army as Riley goes around making vampires out of anyone he sees. With everyone with the same goal, saving Bella, Edward and the Cullens join forces with Jacob and other werewolves. Will they be able to save Bella? Who will Bella pick Jacob or her beloved Edward? Will Bella decide to marry Edward? Will Edward change Bella like she wants?

So far out of all of the “Twilight” movies, “Eclipse” is the best one out of all of them. There is not one moment where you are not looking forward to the next scene. The actors and actress did a wonderful job. They are starting to fit better into the skin of their characters. Bryce Dallas Howard has no problem with her character as she quietly slides into the role of Victoria. There is even enough action and suspense in the movie to keep the guys who are “forced” to watch it be entertained. It does not matter if you are a tween, teen or an adult you will like this movie. You will not even want to get up to go to the bathroom or get any refreshments.

The only downside is it would have been nice to learn more about Bree Tanner in the movie, but there is always the new book “The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner” to learn more about this new vampire. Or at least while she was “alive…”

Like “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows,” “Breaking Dawn” will be made into two separate movies. The first one is slated to hit the big screen on November 18, 2011.

Are you a fan of author Stephenie Meyer? Do you read and reread the Twilight series? If you do ( and possible if you do not), Stephenie will be coming out with a new book on June 5th. The book is called “The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner.” This novella is told by Bree, who is a “newborn vampire” and featured in Stephenie Meyer’s third book in the Twilight series, “Eclipse.” This book will be around 192 pages, which will be a fast read for any Stephenie Meyer fan.

According to EW.com, Stephenie Meyer will be giving a dollar from each book that is sold to the American Red Cross International Response Fund. Also, from June 7 to July 5, you will be able to read the book online (for free) at www.breetanner.com.

On Stephenie’s website she said, “There was one thing I asked for: since this story had always been an extra for me, and was meant to be released with the guide, I wanted to be able to offer it to my fans for free. You all have bought a ton of my books, and I wanted to give you this story as a gift. My publisher was awesome and embraced this idea. We still wanted to also produce a physical book with a cool cover (see below) that you can add to your set if you like, but starting at noon on June 7th until July 5th…”

Now how great is that?

There will also be a web link to the Red Cross, if you are interested in making a donation.

On the book front, “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse” is suppose to be in theater’s at the end of June.

Who IS Keana Texeira?

Written by Ellen Marie Hawkins, Relate Contributing Writer

keana

(Fifteen-year-old Keana Texeira, and THIRTY100 frontman Ryne Simmons (Miley Cyrus Virus) pose w/ their Totally Texty hair for the soon-to-be-seen national ads for the brand.)

Keana Texeria is a model for Totally Texty hair products (who wouldn’t want curls like hers bouncing down your back as you dance onstage?) and Sweet Peas CO. She has opened for WOW to sold out crowds in Canada and is looking forward to starring in Soulstice, a vampire saga to be released in theaters in 2011. Here’s a little more about Keana in her own words. Check out the interview and a preview video for Soulstice.

Relate: Of your many interests, which is your favorite and why?

KEANA: That’s so hard! I really love, love LOVE both singing and modeling. I’ve been modeling since I was a baby so it’s definitely one of my favorite things to do. But nothing can beat the feeling of singing and performing in front of a huge crowd! Acting is my newest passion, but it’s definitely something I would like to continue to pursue and master. I just feel blessed that I have the opportunity to do them all.

Relate: Did you write your own songs? What inspires you to write or choose the songs you sing?

KEANA: I have yet to write my first song. When you get started in this industry, you are pretty much told what image and style of music is best. It’s taken me about a year or so to find the style of music I really want to do (which has definitely changed from bubblegum pop to more of alternative pop rock with an edge). Right now, I’m working with an amazing team of songwriters and producers including award-winning Billboard master Andrew Lane (High School Musical, Hannah Montana Movie). I feel very blessed to now be given the opportunity to develop my own style and pick my own music. My musical influences are Evanescence, Within Temptation, Lady Gaga and Britney Spears. I also love some French bands. I would have to say my style is definitely a mixture of all of them put together.

Relate: What’s it like touring with WOW?

KEANA: I’m homeschooled and believeit or not, the boys and I live a very sheltered, very structured life. I must say they are 5 of my closest friends. I’ve known them since the beginning and they are like my brothers. We haven’t quite gone on a real tour, but I’ve performed withthem in several big venues like Lollipops and Rainbows, onboard the USS Midway for over 1,000 military families during the holidays, and of course most recently (and my favorite) in Toronto and Montreal.

KEANA_TORONTO

KEANA_MONTREAL3

(Keana in Toronto, Keana in Montreal, Photos by T2PR/Rockworx Entertainment)

It’s definitely an experience performing with them (sometimes a little scary) cause the girls—all the girls go crazy!!! There’s been events that had to be stopped because the girls got too out of hand and mobbed the boys. LOL. What’s so great, though, is that we have some amazing, amazing mutual fans who support both WOW and I. I am extremely thankful and grateful that they make me feel loved and welcomed especially when I perform onstage by myself. In Canada, an amazing fan (Jennifer) even brought me banana pudding!

R: Who is your biggest inspiration?

K:Definitely God and my parents. I know it’s a cliché answer, but it’s the truth :)

R: How is Soulstice different from Twilight?

K:Soulstice is very different from Twilight (which I love, by the way. . .). It actually reminds me more of the 80’s cult classic The Lost Boys which I just saw a few months ago. I absolutely LOVE that movie! I am a huge fan of 80’s movies like Stand By Me, Sixteen Candles, etc. It was when characters who are teens in the movie were actually played by real teens. They spoke and acted how teens would in real life. In my opinion, it was so much more real and easy to relate to—something we hope to bring back in Soulstice. My character, Luna Tremaine is 15; I’m 15. We are definitely going to cast people who are the same age or very close to the age of the characters, so everyone “grows” together (like in Harry Potter). Also, unlike Twilight, the storyline revolves around more vampire activity vs. human activity. You’ll see more young teen romance, yet the material is definitely more darker, edgier. . .did I mention a fight scene to “die for” in the first movie? If Bella and Laura Croft were put together, that would be Luna.

R: Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

K: Hopefully in 5 years, I would have made an impact with my music and would have brought out my true personality and image. And definitely make more movies and be taken seriously as an actress.

R: If you could say one thing to your biggest fan, what would it be?

K: Believe in yourself. Age is nothing but a number. Don’t let anyone tell you that you are too young to accomplish anything. Keep your dreams alive. History is made by people who chose to defy what everyone believed. Be yourself. Live by what you believe in your heart and not by the opinions of others. Dare to be different.

And watch this to get a slight preview to the upcoming Soulstice.

And check back next week for an interview with WOW!
