R: How did you get into music?
S: I fell in love with music at a young age. I remember singing along to Beauty and the Beast at the top of my lungs and wishing I could be Belle. But it wasn’t until I was 13 that I told my parents I wanted to make it a career of mine. They started taking me to talent competitions in LA and then suggested I start a YouTube channel.
R: When did you start your YouTube channel? What made you want to start it?
S: 10 years ago! It’s so crazy. My parents suggested I post a video because maybe someone from the industry would see it. But then something even better came out of it. I started gaining an amazing group of supporters.
R: What was it like performing at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade?
S: AMAZING. That was always a childhood dream of mine. It’s hard to describe what it was like. I honestly don’t remember most of it because I was so excited. But what I do remember is my hand falling asleep because I was waving at thousands and thousands of people alongside the parade route for three hours. I was so honored that they asked me and will NEVER forget that experience.
R: Tell us about your new single “Coins.” What’s the story behind it?
S: I’ve been in this industry for 10 years and I’ve always been told how I should talk, dress, sing. So this is my response to all those people. It’s important in any aspect of life to be yourself. It’s been awesome seeing my supporters say this is their anthem. That’s exactly what I wanted! Here’s the “Coins” lyric video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XmEp4DQ1TQs
R: What are some of your plans for the future?
S: I’m releasing a single before the end of the year! I’m so stoked. I’m also getting ready to open up for Haley Reinhart on a few dates of her tour!
R: I heard you started a jewelry line. Can you tell us a little about that?
S: Yes! They reached out to me last year asking if I wanted to create a collection with them. I’ve always wanted to make jewelry so I was so happy they asked! We created some amazing rings and earrings that have a classic but edgy feel.
R: Are there any charities close to your heart?
S: I’m a huge animal lover, so any charity that supports animals. I also support the Thirst Project. It’s an amazing non-profit organization that brings safe drinking water to communities around the world who don’t have access.
R: Is there anything else you would like to add?
